Thoughts from the front

Finally a day off!!!

What a great a day! Today is our Company's drinking party where we get to where civilian clothes(YEA!!!!!) to eat steak and drink beer. Now I'm all about the steak but not so much on the beer. While everyone is drinking and having a "good" time, I have escaped to the computer lab where it is quite and I can use the internet. So few people are here and I can blog for a bit. The party started at 1500 and will end around 2200. Did I mention the catch. Tomorrow we have wake up at 0530 and a company run at 0600. Nothing like paying for a good hang over! I also get to go to "cultural awareness training" tomorrow to learn the dos and donts while I am in Iraq. This could prove to be "interesting" to say the least.
Sunday will be my first official day off since I got to Mississippi. One entire day to myself to recover from the last three weeks. I'm looking forward to it, especially since I got the smallpox shot and the first of many Anthrax shots. I arm is knotted up from the Anthrax shot.
I want to thank you all for your prayers for me and my unit. I do have a couple of prayer requests. Last week one of the guys in my squad asked if I was a "religious guy" I said yes and he said "well by the end of this deployment you won't be!" Please pray for me to stay strong and keep the faith. Also please pray that I will be able to have time every day to read my Bible and pray. Also pray for him that I may be able to witness to him somehow.
Time for me to go do some surfing and reading all about the demise of my beloved Cardinals.
